This afternoon students in our grade four classes participated in the Everest Program.
Run by students at Dalhousie Medical School since 2002, the goal is to educate elementary school kids about healthy living.
Armed with pamphlets, games, information, and prizes, the Dalhousie students spent two hours in the classroom teaching Grade 4 students about the importance of proper nutrition and physical activity.
Through interactive activities the Students learned about:
- the three types of physical activities and their benefits to their bodies
- Using Canada’s Food Guide and products nutritional labels to help guide nutritious food choices
- the effects of smoking on the body
- How to take their pulse and learned how to use a let stethoscope to listen to their own heartbeat
- How to Prevent sunburn
