About Me

My name is Amanda Seymour.  I was raised in Sydney, Nova Scotia but have lived in Halifax since 1998. I have been teaching since September 2001 at various schools within the Halifax Regional Municipality. I have taught every elementary grade except Grade Primary but most of my experience lies from Grades 3-6.

I am enjoying my time at Westmount the past few years. I look forward to continuing to strengthen existing relationships and form new ones with students, parents and colleagues. The past four years I have taught Grade 4. This year I am excited to be teaching Grade 5 again.

I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 14 years. I have a son named Elias who is 12 and a daughter named Adah who is 7.

We live in the surrounding area and my children attend Ecole St. Catherine’s school and Oxford Junior High. I feel very fortunate to teach and live in the such a wonderful community.

I recently graduated with Graduate Diploma in Educational Counseling last Spring. I am passionate about the Health and Wellness of schools and community students, staff, and families. I believe in proactive initiatives, programs and supports; as well as strong partnerships and collaboration among a school community and outside community services.

Professionally I enjoy being involved in committees and programs in schools that promote Health and Wellness and Building relationships, such as Breakfast program, Caring schools community, Race Relations Cross Cultural Understanding and Human Rights, Health and Wellness committees, Social committee, and Strong Girls Leadership Group.

I also really enjoy learning about new technology and  ways to infuse it into my practice.

In my spare time I like to read, do yoga, swim, walk and spend time with my fam jam. I love being outdoors and enjoying time spent around lakes, rivers and the ocean. I really enjoy kayaking and swimming.
