RAH! RAH!

RAH! RAH! (Reading at Home) is the home reading program. I expect the students to read a “Just Right” book nightly for approximately 15-20 minutes. They can borrow a book from class, school library, public library or read a book they have at home. They will need to log their books, minutes read and on occasion a short response. I would appreciate your signature or initials on their log as often as possible.

They will be assigned RAH! RAH! book reports approximately every two-three months, which will take on many different creative forms (Paper Bag book report, cereal box book report, Posters etc.) Their first book report will be assigned in November. Occasionally the RAH! RAH! projects will incorporate Science and Social Studies outcomes.

I am flexible and if you feel adaptations need to be made for your child (i.e. different format, less questions, etc.) please feel free to discuss this with me and we can work together to plan a solution that best fits the needs of your child.

The students will have presentations, either in partners, small groups or whole class, where they will present their RAH! RAH! reports. Their reports and presentations will be scored using rubrics discussed in class. This is a great opportunity for the students to share & recommend the books they are reading. It also addresses many English Language Arts outcomes.
